Jane Osgood and Ted Hilles believe in giving back to the community. One way they're giving back is by supporting Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center, where Jane serves on the Board of Trustees and Ted is an Incorporator. For Osgood, hospital support is a family tradition. Her grandfather, William T. Cooley, and her mother, Harriet Cooley Osgood, both served as trustees. "The hospital has always played a prominent role not only in my own life, but in the history of my family,"Osgood said. "It's a community hospital where you're cared for as if you were a member of the family." Since moving to Windsor a decade ago, Jane and Ted have participated in the redevelopment of the town's historic downtown. They've fixed up several downtown properties, including the landmark Windsor House, now housing retail stores and offices. They also have completely restored "The Enright," Windsor's first "green" apartment house on the corner of State and Main. Osgood and Hilles value the high-quality, personal care they have received at Mt. Ascutney Hospital, and the services it provides to the wider community, such as the nursing home and rehabilitation unit, and its support for senior housing through Historic Runnemede. "The doctors are some of the best in the region, the nurses are caring, and the services are comprehensive," she said. "Mt. Ascutney Hospital has managed to stay alive, vital and relevant." Hilles said having a good health care center nearby was an important factor in choosing Windsor as a place to live. "The hospital is "a special place,' ' Jane and Ted agree. It is "the heart and soul of the community. ...If you have something special in your community, like Mt. Ascutney Hospital, you have to support it."
