We are proud of our volunteers! Like the icing on the cake, our volunteers play a very important role, and their time and talents are greatly appreciated. Volunteers help us provide better service and contribute to the comfort and well being of our patients and visitors.
Currently, there are 220 volunteers - people of all ages, working throughout the hospital assisting staff, patients, and visitors in many ways. Volunteer opportunities include working and visiting with patients, the lay ministry program, staffing the hospitality desk, helping with activities and events, assisting departments with clerical work, and much more. The Mt. Ascutney Hospital Auxiliary also has many volunteers who help with fundraising activities and have a lot of fun doing so.
Volunteers in Action (ViA), the Windsor-based organization that brings together volunteers with neighbors in need, is now affiliated with Mt. Ascutney Hospital, and coordinates the volunteer activities at the hospital.
In the community, ViA volunteers provide a wide range of services including transportation to medical appointments, minor home repairs, snow shoveling, and yard work. Volunteers may also visit with residents, provide short-term respite care, or offer shopping assistance.
