Wide-Bore MRI

Improved Image Quality Meets Greater Comfort

The MRI answer for larger patients and those who experience anxiety or claustrophobia.

Increased access to every Monday beginning February 4, 2019. (closed bore unit available every other Thursday).

  • More open space
  • More headroom
  • Shorter imaging time
  • Radiation-free 3D images
  • Superior image quality to other MRIs

Now, patients in our community who would benefit from additional space can take advantage of the enhanced imaging resulting from this new technology. The wide-bore Espree 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner features a 27.5 inch diameter entry point. This leaves 15 inches to 17 inches from the tip of one’s nose to the top of the scanner, compared to traditional models, which offer 8 inches to 10 inches. A stronger magnetic field than other “open” MRI systems means quicker scans and more highly detailed images for faster, more accurate diagnosis.
