Funds to support state-of-the-art Hospice Suite Project
WINDSOR, VT – Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center, a nonprofit community hospital located in Windsor, VT, has received a $20,000 gift from the Hospital’s Auxiliary for its Hospice Suite Project. The Hospital is expanding its hospice facilities to enhance comprehensive, medical, social and spiritual care services for patients at the end of life. The Hospice Suite will feature a fully-equipped patient room to provide quality medical support when needed by hospice patients. The Suite will also feature a kitchenette, lounge and private outdoor patio to make overnight stays more comfortable for patients and their families.
CEO of Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center, Kevin W. Donovan, explained that the Hospice Suite Project will enable the Hospital to continue providing hospice patients with state-of-the-art care, but in a setting that will be more supportive of family members confronting the loss of a loved one. “We are grateful for the Auxiliary and all that they do to give back to our community,” stated Donovan. “Because of their hard work and generosity throughout the year we are able to provide our hospice patients with a supportive and more comfortable setting during their final days.” The Auxiliary has been an integral part of Mt. Ascutney Hospital for many years. Its members dedicate time to organize fundraising events, volunteer at the Hospital, and run the gift shop in the main lobby. Throughout its lifetime the Auxiliary has contributed nearly $300,000 to numerous projects that have helped the Hospital provide the highest caliber of patient care possible.
The Hospice Suite is slated to open later this summer.
