Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) is not responsible for the safekeeping of personal items. Patients should not bring valuables to the unit; however, if something of value is inadvertently brought in, then a family member or responsible designee will be asked to take them home.
MAHHC does not assume responsibility for the management of a patient's personal finances, but will provide counsel, as requested.
All patients on the Rehabilitation Unit are expected to wear comfortable and casual street clothing. A minimum of 3-4 complete sets and comfortable shoes should be brought in.
The patient and his/her family are responsible for the care and maintenance of personal clothing. The patient's family/responsible designee is expected to take clothing home to wash and bring fresh clothing in on a regular basis.

Our patient rooms are equipped with telephones.
To make a local call from the patient's room, dial 9; then the number. If it is a Claremont number, this is also local but it needs to go through our switchboard by dialing 0.
To make a long distance call, you either need to use a calling card or call collect. In either case, dial 9; then proceed in the normal manner.
Pay phone is located in the front of the hospital.
Phone cards are available to purchase at the switchboard, which is located at the front of the hospital. To use, dial 9; then the number on the phone card, pin number and follow instructions by operator.
7am-10:30am (cold foods)
11:30am-1pm (hot and cold foods with salad bar)
Weekends: Noon-1pm
5:30pm-7pm (pre-plated entrees that can be heated in the microwave, fruit, salad, and beverages)
Between meals, the cafeteria is available for snacks and beverages. Soda machines are in the courtyard, outside of the cafeteria.
When there is no one at the register to take your money for purchases, there is a gray box near the register and a list is posted on the wall with prices.
All of the items on the substitution menu are available at meal times. To request one of those items, write it in on your daily menu or ask your nurse to call Nutrition Services.

Public bathrooms are located near the double doors when entering the Rehab Unit. Two others are located in the main hospital in the Emergency entrance corridor.
Guests may order a standard meal of the day and have it delivered to the patient's room along with the patient's own food tray. Guest must prepay $5.00. This meal needs to be ordered at least one hour prior to mealtime.
Guests may go to the cafeteria during operating hours and choose items from the posted daily menu. Menu and prices are posted in the cafeteria for guests, the public, and hospital staff. This food may also be taken back to the patient's room.

Computer access is limited to the Rehab Dining Room. This computer is for inpatient use.
Personal hair care is available in our fully equipped salon. Patients may arrange with the nursing staff for an appointment by Tuesday or each week.

The Lobby Shop is operated by the Mt. Ascutney Hospital Auxiliary and includes a supply of personal items, candy and gifts.
Volunteers run the gift shop, therefore times may vary.
Music with Martha is held on most Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Rehab Dining Room at 2:00pm.
Animals need to have updated vaccines and be on a leash at all times. Animals need to be kept under control at all times. Animals are not allowed in the Rehab Dining Room while patients are eating.

The Chaplaincy Program at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center includes visitation, pastoral counseling, and spiritual support and worship services. Patients and visitors are welcome to visit our chapel for meditation or private worship.

Both Dartmouth-Hitchcock and Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center believe that access to your medical information by those treating you is invaluable to you as a patient because immediate access to your medical record means your healthcare provider can better care for you.
Who can access my record?
Our medical records computer systems contain security measures to ensure the privacy of your medical information.
We have developed confidentiality policies to protect your record and all staff is required to read, understand and abide by these policies. Failure to follow confidentiality policies may be grounds for termination of employment.

Inpatient Programs
The following therapies are available to patients who are receiving care as an inpatient of Mt. Ascutney Hospital, or as a resident of the nursing home facility. Therapies require a referral by your physician. Ask your physician, nurse, or case manager about a referral.
The cost of these treatments will not be included in the cost of care billed by the hospital. Cost for these therapies are from private donations. If you are able, we appreciate your donation.
There will be massage therapist who will be here once a week at no charge. Donations will be accepted.

The cost of many services is reflected in the daily hospital service charge. You may have additional charges for x-ray, laboratory, pharmacy and therapies. Staff in the business office can explain the charges on the itemized statement.
The fees charged by your own physician or surgeon does not appear on the hospital bill. As our hospital is affiliated with the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, some medical services may be provided at that facility and will be billed from their business office.
PLEASE NOTE: At Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center, no patient is ever turned away due to inability to pay. If payment of your bill presents a hardship, please speak to your case manager about financial assistance and payment plans.
