Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) has confirmed that it is engaged in plans to establish a pharmacy within the Ottauquechee Health Center located at 32 Pleasant Street in Woodstock, Vermont. The plan would require renovations by the building owner, DEW Ottauquechee, LLC, to space under lease to MAHHC. The pharmacy would be operated by High Mountain Corporation d/b/a/ Rutland Pharmacy.
According to Paul Calandrella, FACHE, Chief Operating Officer of MAHHC, MAHHC recognizes the benefit of pharmacy services for its patients and the community at large. This plan, if successful, will help meet a significant portion of the need and would further MAHHC’s commitment to provide the Woodstock area with access to essential health care services close to home.
“Ottauquechee Health Center has been dedicated to ensuring local access to health care since the 1970s,” said Calandrella. “We’re proud to participate in helping the community solve its need for local pharmacy services.” Calandrella says that the involved parties plan to seek the necessary permits and approvals from the Town of Woodstock in hopes of beginning needed renovations in the fall of 2020.

DEW Ottauquechee, LLC’s Vice President, Matthew Wheaton says that the addition of a pharmacy makes sense for the property and for the region. “Maintaining local access to high quality pharmacy services is something that would benefit our entire region,” says Mr. Wheaton, who explains, “the Ottauquechee Health Center is known as a health care hub for the community and locating a pharmacy alongside the services people already utilize just makes sense.”
